This has always made me laugh. My brother Jeff was named Richard Jeffery. When his teachers in grade school called out his name as Dick or Rick he didn’t respond.
My Grandmother on our Dad’s side has the last name Jefferies. She wanted Richard to be called Jeff.
Her wish came true when Jeff would not answer to the other names.
Jeff is not good about wearing his seatbelt. His significant other Nita recently said, “You need to wear your seatbelt you have a lot of people depending on you”. He didn’t think much of it and went on his way of not wearing a seatbelt.
Two days ago he was driving down the highway when a police car turned on their lights and pulled him over. It was an older man and he apologized to Jeff for bothering him. He then took his license back to his car. He came back and told him that it would only be a $10.00 fine and he could mail it in. He then leaned down, look Jeff directly in the eye and said, “You need to wear your seatbelt you have a lot of people depending on you”.

He got off lightly; the fine is at least $100 in WA.
On the subject of moving violations, I dropped my motorcycle and sustained a dislocated shoulder. I’m lucky I was wearing the proper gear (boots, leather jacket and pants, gloves and full face helmet) that some disdain, otherwise it could have been worse.
